    We are expanding and now recruiting for a Test Engineer to join our Test Team in our flagship R&D Centre in Cambridge, UK. This is very much a “hands-on” testing role, with a strong responsibility for running and arranging tests. An appreciation of the underlying automation is desirable, but this is not a test development role.


    • Core responsibility for the running of both manual and automated tests
    • Configuring machines and networks according to test needs, including fitting hardware and cables as required
    • Organizing and scheduling tests across multiple different platforms simultaneously
    • Managing test plans and their parameter space
    • Ensuring results are correctly recorded and coverage reports are up-to-date
    • Analyzing failures, examining relevant historical data, and utilizing scientific principles to test around a failure to provide more data
    • Raising bug reports, providing additional info as required, and helping progress to closure
    • Working closely with the Software Development team and the Hardware group


    • 2+ years’ experience in a software test role
    • Performance of tests and ability to isolate failures and reduce bugs
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Solid bug reporting / triage skills
    • Ability to configure Linux and Windows systems
    • Good understanding of PC architecture
    • Ability to test around a failure
    • Some experience of protocols – e.g. TCP, IP, UDP, ICMP, ARP
    • Good knowledge of software development lifecycle
    • Self-driven and a desire to constantly learn
    • HND or Degree in a relevant technical subject (Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or Physics)

    Additional skills which would be useful:


    • Good working knowledge of computer networking products
    • General Product knowledge - knows the features and limitations of Ethernet adapters
    • General Product knowledge of virtualization technologies – knows the features and limitations of Xen, KVM, VMware
    • Python programming – to help understand the underlying automation
    • Ability to locate a failure in source code / scripts
