We’re looking for a number of software interns to join us for the summer of 2018.


Solarflare is a great place to work. We strongly believe being an intern isn’t about watching people working; it’s about doing real work from day one, on things that make a real difference.  As a fully-fledged member of one of our development teams, you will work on real features and get the opportunity to see it all through to the very end, so you know you’ve made a real difference. As a result, you will experience how our engineering teams go about creating software, including the design, implementation, and testing of features.


What we will offer you

  • Execute established test plans for assigned module of code; identifies, logs and debugs assigned issues
  • Manage individual task time-lines, deadlines and deliverables
  • Day-to-day co-ordination with other members of the assigned team
  • Ensure that tasks are executed in accordance with internal quality/process requirements to achieve clean product releases
  • Participate in the software SCRUM process
  • Attend code reviews and design meetings
  • Build competence in internal systems (mercurial, Bugzilla, review-board, run-bench)
  • Opportunities to develop software for test automation
  • Produce accurate documents to a high quality
  • Begin to develop estimating skills


What are we looking for

Students should be currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or equivalent. Additionally we would also consider PhD or Advanced Computer Science MPhil students.  We are looking for candidates in their 2nd or 3rd year, who have: 

  • Experience installing and configuring operating systems (Linux, MS Windows etc.)
  • Experience in managing operating system at the “command line” / “command shell”
  • Experience in Scripting languages (e.g. python, Bash, Perl) and programming languages “C” and “java”
  • Knowledge of the basics of computer networking (IPV4, Local area networks) is also useful
